The Working Party
The work of preparing material for the case and its supplementary detail and evidence base, has been undertaken by a party of volunteers. This comprised representatives from:
- Friends of the Mimram;
- Hertfordshire Gardens Trust;
- Herts Natural History Society;
- Herts & Middx Wildlife Trust.
The Working Party included a number of professional people: a Landscape Architect, an Environmental Scientist, a Civil Engineer, an Architect and two Management Consultants, all of whom live in settlements within the valley.
The Steering Group
The Working Party’s activities were carried out under the aegis of a Steering Group. The Steering Group comprised a representative (usually a parish councilor) from each of the 11 parish or town councils or parish meetings within whose areas the valley runs (see next item).
What Parishes have been involved?
All of the parish areas along the length of the valley contribute greatly to the overall visual and heritage landscape of the valley, as and entity. They each have many important (and varied) ecological and heritage assets. The project has engaged with the town/parish councils/meetings in whose areas the valley lies, with all 11 agreeing the valley boundary proposed for LLD purposes. The valley runs through through:
- the parishes of King’s Walden, St Paul’s Walden, Kimpton, Knebworth and Codicote (all within North Herts District Council);
- the parishes of the Ayots and Welwyn (all in Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council);
- the parishes of Tewin and Hertingfordbury and thence Hertford Town Council’s area (all within East Herts District Council).
